Approach local entrepreneurs as a sponsor

Approach local businesses and ask them to sponsor your participation in Tour du ALS. That could of course get rewarded by printing their logo on your Tour du ALS outfit. How to do this? For example, organize a Tour du ALS network lunch for local entrepreneurs in the spring and encourage them to support you. Of course you can also distribute flyers in the area or start a telephone campaign. Think of approaching gyms, bicycle shops and supermarkets.

Organize a sponsor dinner or benefit

Everywhere in the country, Tour du ALS participants, volunteers and other stakeholders organize special campaigns to raise money for the fight against ALS: from sponsored dinners, networkdrinks and neighborhood barbecues to the sale of cookies and homemade bracelets by children at the door. . Not only is it fun, it also generates extra money for a good cause! If you're not sure where to start, we'll give you a few pointers:

  1. First consider for which group of people you would like to organize something , for example your family, colleagues, neighbors or friends. Or maybe you want to take it bigger and organize an event to which outsiders are invited as well;
  2. It is possible that fun activities are already taking place, for example a network event organized by your employer or a large family celebration, which you can join with room to promote your participation in Tour du ALS - you can have a speech, place collection boxes or a pubquiz or organize bingo for charity;
  3. Find a nice location, don't over complicate things: activities for colleagues can possibly take place at the office or in a nice restaurant nearby. Ask the owner if it is possible to sponsor the location for a good cause. The neighborhood party can be organized in your own street;
  4. Set a date, make a guest list and a nice invitation;
  5. Send the invitation to your contacts. If it is a public event, promote your event on social media as well and also think of the local newspaper asking if they can cover your event for a good cause;
  6. Start the preparations of the event, order Tour du ALS promotional materials for decorating and think about a nice snack and drink. The local catering industry may also want to sponsor this.
  7. Have fun!

How the best ALS fundraisers do it:

Guido Mols about his target amount of €5,000 at Toer voor ALS:

“Only money is usefull to research ALS. And only through research we’ll hopefully one day find a solution to this terrible disease.” His advice to boost your fundraising: “Tell literally everyone you meet what you are doing and why you are doing it. You will be amazed how many people are interested and want to support you.

Anouk about her participation in Toer voor ALS:

Anouk ran a marathon during Toer voor ALS, spread over four weeks. She has had her kilometers sponsored by more than 160 people and has doubled her target amount of 3,000 euros. Her advice to other participants: “Make your story personal. Share your story, share your pain. Thats how we will get a little more understanding and more people will be familiar with this terrible disease. By opening up in this way, you also receive wonderful reactions in return and many donations.”

Approach companies to sponsor you:

Don't forget to also approach companies to sponsor you. Your employer, a good customer, a great supplier. Ask the company you work for to support you by highlighting your participation on social media. Place a campaign banner at the bottom of your email with a link to your action page. Thank your sponsors on LinkedIn and write about it on the business page and in the companies newsletter.

Involve your donors in the final sprint!

Experience shows that the most donations are made in the last week of your campaign. So put your final sprint to good use and ask your donors for help. Because they will also want you to reach your target amount. The day of the ascent is also a good time to go for your record yield in the fight against ALS!
