Participate in Tour du ALS as a patient
During Tour du ALS, hundreds of participants climb Mont Ventoux together with ALS patients. In recent years, more than 100 patients have participated in Tour du ALS. A unique and unforgettable experience for a lifetime for you to share with family and friends.
We encourage patients to participate in Tour du ALS with their own team or to be join as a supporter. Of course, patients do not have to pay a registration fee for their participation in Tour du ALS.
Are you an ALS patient and are you considering participating in Tour du ALS? Please contact us by emailing info@tourduals.nl or calling 088-6660333 during office hours. You will then receive the code from us that you will use to not pay a registration fee.
Unique experience with family and friends
Patients who have previously participated in Tour du ALS all indicate that it was an experience they never would have wanted to miss. In this video, ALS patients talk about their participation in Tour du ALS.
ALS patient Theo Rommen cycled up Mont Ventoux with us five times already:
“Tour du ALS gives me memories for life. I make new friends and keep in touch with other fellow sufferers. In addition, I get a lot of energy from all the volunteers who ensure that we can do our thing.”
At the beginning of April 2021, we received the sad message that Theo Rommen passed away from ALS. Theo lived with ALS for six years and was one of the most active participants of Tour du ALS. For many years he climbed Mont Ventoux together with family and friends in Team ALSMaarDoor for the fight against ALS. We wish Sophie Rommen and his daughters Femke and Saar a lot of strength, the loss is heavy. Heaven received a big star ⭐️ . We will miss you terribly!
Participate with an electric bicycle
Participating in Tour du ALS is an experience you don't want to miss out on and that you want to share with your family and friends. To enable everyone to climb Mont Ventoux, including the less sportive among us, we offer patient teams the opportunity - if desired - to participate in Tour du ALS on an electric bicycle. When registering you can select the sporting discipline 'electric bicycle'. Because together we are stronger in the fight against ALS.
Special care before and during Tour du ALS
A special patients team guides ALS patients and their loved ones in the preparation for Tour du ALS. For example, we think along in finding the best accommodation, transport to the South of France and special needs bicycles. Every year, our partner “Stichting ALS op de weg” makes special 'Haze Pino' bicycles available for patients, with or without pedal assistance. Pass on your specific care questions to us, we are happy to help you with a good preparation!
We also unburden patients and their loved ones during the event. We think it is very important that patients can experience this unique event with people they love. At Tour du ALS, carers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists are present, all specialized in ALS. It is also possible to arrange care such as ADL (washing, dressing, etc.). If you need specific aids that cannot be taken to France, we will do our best to arrange this for you.
Ambulance Wish Foundation (Stichting Ambulance Wens)
Are you unable to cycle along yourself, but is there someone or a team participating in the Tour du ALS for you and would you like to go to France to encourage them? Then there is the Ambulance Wens Foundation ready to enable this. They can arrange travel, accommodation and care for a few patients. If you want to know more about this, please contact us. Since there is only space for a few patients, the ALS Netherlands Foundation determines which patients go to the top with the Ambulance Wens Foundation.
If you want to arrange the trip to Mont Ventoux yourself, we would of course also be happy to welcome you in Malaucene at Village du Depart with a snack, drink and lots of fun.
